Recent Paintings

Oakland, CA – based artist, Hae Yuon Kim paints images that are layered, gestural, and mysterious. Working intuitively, she paints from her imagination, informed by visual experiences. Her process involves additive and subtractive mark-making, responding to what is happening on the surface and what seems to be called for.

This is @rschultzie giving us a tour of the amazing work that he and his partner Anado created at their place outside San Miguel de Allende. Anado died a couple of years ago. Richard still gives tours and hosts openings at the gallery on-site. It was an absolute highlight of our trip to see this beautiful mosaic work.

I’m so done with screenshots of meetings. But this group of folks has kept me in my art practice through the pandemic. When you meet every week, you develop true friendships even when you’ve never met in person. That’s been the gift of the last couple years. Today I played with some new things I got to take to a workshop in Guanajuato, Mexico. I pretty much never draw ✍️, so it’s fun and challenging. Sailor fountain pen, Pentel ink brush pen, Pentel water brush pens, and my first set of quality watercolors - Daniel Smith basic pan set.
