Artist Statement
My current body of work consists of paintings in acrylics and mixed media and is a return to abstract principles I learned in college with Frank Lobdell and Nathan Oliveira. There is a push and pull that comes from mark-making and responding to what happens on the surface of the painting. The drama of taking risks in paint — always on the verge of ruining it all, and hopefully arriving at a successful resolution — makes me feel alive.
